Bilingual Programme
Research has shown that bilingualism is beneficial for children’s development and their future. Children exposed to different languages become more aware of different cultures, other people and other points of view. But they also tend to be better than monolinguals at 'multitasking' and focusing attention, they often are better readers, and generally find it easier to learn other languages. Bilingualism gives children much more than two languages!
Here at JFK, in addition to teaching French, we offer a bilingual programme in Years 4 and 5 where students spend two afternoons a week being taught and conversing in French. The subject areas from different parts of the curriculum enjoy a focus through the medium of French.
Saanen, located only 2 kilometers from French-speaking Switzerland, offers the perfect environment for cultural and exploratory visits where the language of learning is French.
The school employs ski teachers of the highest calibre who are also able to instruct through French.
