education for life.
GENERAL INFORMATION > the facilities
The school is presently housed in five traditional Bernese chalets: the Boarding Chalet, the Schoolhouse (containing classrooms, tutorial rooms, a high-tech computer lab and library), the Pavilion (grades K to 3) with a large play area and the Schoolmedhaus where the administration and Foundation offices are located.
Recently, the historic former Saanen Schoolhouse was transferred to the John F. Kennedy International School Foundation by the community of Saanen. The Foundation has implemented a campaign to restore and transform this building into a state-of-the-art learning facility to ensure that the Saanenland's long and honourable history of private international education continues.
Adjacent to the Boarding Chalet is a two-acre playing field, basketball half court, a rock-climbing wall and there is also a children's playground next to the Schoolhouse. Within a few minutes of the school there are over 60 ski lifts, unlimited hiking and excursion possibilities, two modern gymnasiums, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, tennis courts, community parks, a music school and horse riding facilities - all of which the Kennedy School takes full advantage of.
