The right start in
education for life.
STUDENT LIFE > activities

Outside the classroom, students participate in a large variety of sports, activities and excursions. The Excursion Program consciously links classroom studies with real-world practical experience and observation. Approximately 40 excursions take place during the school year, ranging from mountain hiking and camping expeditions in the autumn, to more culturally-oriented field trips to museums, art galleries, concerts or folkloric events in such towns as Bern, Geneva and Lausanne. During the final term each year, all classes undertake a three to six day overnight expedition.

Swimming, hiking, skating, soccer, track and field, uni-hockey, cross-country running and general physical education are all part of the regular curriculum. Due to the superb alpine location of the school, skiing is a fundamental part of the winter program and all students receive professional daily ski instruction from certified Swiss ski instructors. Students are divided into ski classes ranging from beginners to elite ski racers. Once every week, students are also able to choose other winter sports options such as snowboarding.

In the spring term, interest groups are offered on Thursday afternoons and include activities such as bicycling, rock climbing, gymnastics, dance, arts and crafts, photography and filmmaking. In addition, students have the option to partake in extra-curricular pursuits such as music, tennis, horseback riding, karate, aikido or ballet.

To enhance the family-like ambience of the school and foster a sense of community, a number of special events are hosted throughout the school calendar, including, among others, such highlights as the annual Christmas play and craft fair, the winter term fondue party and torchlight ski, and the end-of-year Authors and Artists Day, closing ceremonies and garden party.
