STUDENT LIFE > sports
Because of the small size of the school, JFK provides an excellent opportunity for all students to participate in a number of different sports. JFK believes that sport is an excellent way to develop the child as a whole. This is why we try to participate in as many sporting events as possible. Every year JFK plays host to 3 major sporting events on the SGIS calendar. These include 2 Swim Meets, 1 being the SGIS Junior Swimming Championships which can include over 10 international schools from all over Switzerland. Being in the heart of the Alps we also are the hosts of the SGIS Junior Skiing Championships held every winter in February. This is one of the largest sporting events for international schools in Switzerland, with over 300 participants.
Aside from swimming and skiing, JFK also has a Football Team which competes in the Fall and Spring Terms, a Uni-Hockey Team which participates in a large tournament every Fall. Cross-Country running is also one of the sporting highlights of the fall term. The spring term is mainly focused on Track and Field and culminates in a large inter-school tournament in Bern. Basketball is another team sport JFK has participated in, in the past.
Aside from the above mentioned sports, JFK also participates in locally organized events, which can include Mountain Bike Racing, Long Distance Running, and of course numerous amounts of ski races throughout the winter season.
